Return to the Gardens

We visited Filoli with David & Bonnie Rice, my dad & mom, my sisters, Claudia & Beth, then we headed to Mt Hermon for a blissful weekend in a cabin where David & Amy joined in the fun.  The trips to the ocean were breathtaking and the ocean-view dinner a delight!!!

Fifty is Nifty

Thank you all for the birthday wishes, yes, it was quite a celebration!!  I hardly know where to start to describe it, but somehow this morning, I feel older....do I merit more naps now?

Of course the celebration started with our "girls only" Mt Hermon trip, inclusive of the beautiful Pacific Ocean...ahhh, it was a delight!  Then we had the GET scheduled for Wed evening for Hawaiian Meal with our family, but due to a bus breakdown, we only had 3 out of 5 on the team here, so added a couple of my sisters to fill the table.  As I was preparing for the evening, my doorbell rang about 3:00.  I opened the door to a flower delivery man who gave me a beautiful vase of 10 tulips.  Wow, they were so springy, who could have sent them?  The card read "Happy 50th Birthday" Love, Mom & Dad Hoblit.  How special is that?  They, being in Florida had a little help from Heidi to arrange it all, but I was very pleased to have a lovely centerpiece for my table of company.  The evening included gifts & cards.....Lorna gave me a bag full of 50 items, very creative!  Kris gave me 2 pair of soft footsie slippers!  Sheryl Boone sent a gift cert for a pedicure...very nice!  Heidi & Brandon gave me a cert to Fleur De Lis......50.00 to highlight the birthday #.....fun, fun!!!

Holly had made me an elegant handmade black & white card on Tuesday aftn and could not wait to give it to me, so I rec'd her card Tues evening...very well done with lots of love!

Back to Wed evening, Holly had made brownies so they added 5 candles and sang "Happy Birthday" to me....this just keeps going & going, so you'll know why I feel rather tired now that I'm 50!!!

So, bummer, I have to work Thurs on my birthday...so as I'm getting ready, I hear a "ding" from my cell phone...and here @ 7:15 I get a "Happy Birthday" text from my dear son-in-law....1st wish of the day....what a sweetie!!!  The day continues with a special card from my husband, a call from my son, Rudy.  Then @ work, I rec'd a voice message from my brother-in-law, Phil Bowling (who had a birthday 2 days before mine).  Then the bank brought in this huge Mylar balloon & cupcakes.  They spared revealing the #, so I appreciated that, but got lots of "Happy Birthday's" from my customers all day long.........THEN about 3:45, I look up to see this huge mass of color coming through the bank doors carried by Phil Bowling and a parade of people following, Beth, Amy, Heidi & Kris.....Oh, no, they are really gonna embarrass me!!!!  They brought a 50 balloon bouquet, very colorful with a Mylar atop that revealed my secret....the #50. Wow...after pictures and some explanation, they left me in a sea of balloons!  Heidi said, "You mentioned this last night"!   I did?  How so?  Beth was thanking me for the one, little Mylar balloon I dropped by their house Tues evening for Phil's birthday acting like that was such a wonderful thing.....how could they top that when I randomly said,  "You could get me 50 balloons!"  I never once thought about it again till Heidi reminded me of the comment!    Course Amy & Beth had to return after work to haul the huge bouquet home for me....so we called their families to come eat leftover Hawaiian Meal and more Banana Splits.  I rec'd many lovely cards from special friends and even had a live birthday song from Ohio on my phone messages Thurs from Dwaine & Shirley Bowman.  Also a voice message from my mom as they are in Texas right now.  So many special things from so many special people!  And then an e-mail from Calvin & Deb....I am soooooooooo blessed!  Thank you!  I feel officially 50 now!!!

Also, I have a co-worker who makes cakes for each birthday and she has promised me a German Chocolate cake from scratch on Monday...whoa...I am starting to feel overwhelmed and life must soon get back to "normal"!

Yes, spring is here in all it's glory and I love this time of year!  The sights, smells and balmy, warm days are such a welcome.  Looking forward to some walks in the almond orchards soon...maybe today after Lorna, Sheryl & I go out for lunch!!

I knew I would forget something, after all I'm 50 now....when I pulled in the garage from our Mt Hermon weekend, my husband had a shiny bicycle (just a 2 wheeled) with a "Happy Birthday" tag on it!
I really am blessed!  Thank you, Jesus!!
